LB Blues...

Salaam,

Well guess what? I’m blogging at work…!

Yes, its that boring at the moment and I have Lots of free time…which I should really make the most of..Basically this has all arisen because I got pre-placed into research but I don’t know which team. So over the last 10 days I’ve been meeting all the teams and trying to figure out where I want to go. I’ve given my preferences in, but the teams are also meeting the other new hires so obviously can’t make their minds up ‘till they’ve seen everyone on who They want…and so leaving me with nothing to do…

Obviously there’s Always things to do; like I could be revising for my exam in a few weeks time, or reading up on some of the things I’ll be doing when I start properly, or…you get the picture. But to be honest I’d rather not. When I do start properly I know I’ll be working my socks off, so I may as well make the most of doing “nothing” now, and then when I am busy, look back fondly on these idle days…

Anyway on other news, quite a few things have happened;

I’ve finally moved into the new flat which I will be sharing with 4 other bros from Cam. Alhamdulilla it’s really really nice – it’s near Regents park mosque which is quite handy, plus that whole area is nice to live in, so the whole thing has ended well. The flat itself is nice and spacious and well worth the money. Although some have suggested I try and buy a place, get on the property ladder etc etc…I don’t think it’s really viable until I’m “stable” in London (plus the London prices..! The flat we’re in is like £1m+ if you want to buy…!!) It was a really nice feeling on Friday though as the uncertainty of where I'll be staying for the next year at least was finally over and I had got somewhere I could call "home" and which would be my base.

That weekend was the Notting Hill Carnival too, so I ended up going there to check it out. The carnival can be quite erratic in the sense that some areas on some days can be quite mellow and very family orientated, whereas other areas on other days are…quite the opposite. Although I briefly went last year, it was nice to go again just for the atmosphere.

Looking ahead, Sunday looks to be exciting as I managed to get hold of tickets for the Brazil Vs Argentina match at the arsenal stadium which, if it lives up to it, should be a cracker so I'm really looking for to that. And then on Monday, back to work…! I don't foresee any work-blogging happening though as by Monday I should be working away…

Salaams
