Update

Salaams people,

And so my intermittent entries continue..

Firstly to make sure no one gets dodgy ideas i think i should clarify my last post...Unfortunately for the ladies who use the services of sites like Shaadi.com i have not been perusing their profiles as i am after one of them, but no, i have been looking at their profiles for work purposes.

I think i am now one of the very few people who can claim to be paid to go on matrimonial sites and things like facebook...but its true i tell you. Yes i have indeed been visiting all these sites at work as i need to...at the moment i am doing some work for a business networking site and so in order to research the sector i have spent all last week persuing these sites..hours and hours i have spent on these sites and all being paid to do this by Mr Lehman....Ahhh, life couldn't get better could it...??!!

IT's been quite interesting perusing these sites though as its very suprising to see how successful they've been. For example the marimonial sites have tens of millions of users paying upto £25 per month just to find someone else. For muslims their seems to be many obvious advantages of using these services and i suppose that's why the muslim sites are doing so well. Its a shame though that the traditonal way of finding a wife/husband seems to have been dropped and now many muslims are taking it to themslves to find a partner.

I was reading a (controversial) article whuch was saying we find ourselves in this situation precisely because their aren't enough "halal" events were muslims can meet muslims of the opposite gender. The author claimed that because some people had become too extreme it was working to the detriment of muslims...Now though you do get events held by mosques (including East London Mosque) where people looking for marriage partners get to meet people of the opposite gender...from the sounds of it it looks very similar to "speed dating"...where you speak to someone for 5 mins and if you think something could come out of it, you put a tick next to their name, and if they've done the same for you, you end up exchanging numbers and take it from their...although this sounds quite dodgy at first, i dont think i have a problem with it as if you will have a mahram with you (as they request), it is done in the open, their are imams on standby etc etc...plus doing things like this is tackling the huge problem (yes, huge) that many of the youth face....

Facebook is a wierd one too..i still don't get it and keep asking my flatmates (all of whom are on it) "what do you actually Do on their..??". They keep replying back saying its so you can keep in touch with friends, but what about mobile/email/msn messenger..?? From what i've seen facebook doesn't seem to do anything extra..the conclusion i've come up with is Facebook users only use it for Perving...(you know its true). It actually seems like a stalkers heaven in that u can see people's photo's, who their friends are, what they're saying to each other etc etc...even though these functions can be controlled so only your friends have access, most people just leave it open for all to see...resulting in hours of fun for pervs like The Fugged One. { i shall shortly be joining facebook, beware...}


Anyway now that i'm done promoting marriage events...what else...?

I haven't mentioned a few things for one reason or another but the latest with Me so in no particular order:

1) Alh work is going well and i'm enjoying the various projects i'm working in

2) In ramadan went for an iftaar to a Syrian bro's house which turned out to be one of the nicest houses i've ever seen. It was quite a bizarre night as it started by us being picked up from the station by two tall blonde women in BMW's (they turned out to be his srs - In the car he claimed they had adopted his sr from Russia and i actually believed him until his sr started slapping him on the head for saying that...)The house looked standard from the outside but was Crazilly decorated with all these antiques on the walls and these retro furtiniture..alh V V nice. The food was amazing as well..apparently his mum had got told 10 people were coming when only 6 were so she had made loads but it was amazing. His dad does import/export of textiles (i.e. $$$) and thier family is related to President Assad of Syria (i.e. more $$$). But alh he's a top bro so i would have been his friend anyway... lol

3) Went to another iftar organised by the MCB and some big wig politicians in order to celebrate the input of muslims in the financial sector in the UK. It was pretty bizarre as it was all these middle aged, middle class muslims proper hobnobbing away... (for some reason i kept thinking they were all sell outs/cocunuts...but i think that has more to do with my anti middle-class issues...) i did feel pretty uncomfortable though in this setting...

4) what else whay else...oh yeah, eid muabarak...!! Alh i went home for eid and it was pretty good, although it all went too quickly. It was good to see family and friends and the food..! My God the food...!!! back now to the good old take-aways now though...

I never knew these sites were so good…! (Fugster, i can see why you're always on these now..)

I’ve been visiting quite a lot of them recently…I started with match.com as it s the biggest in the world so thought it must be pretty good…then I read one called eharmony.com was really good too so I thought I’d check that our (not bad, not bad…) then I thought I should try out some “religious” ones so I went on the biggest Islamic one in the UK singlemuslim.com and then I thought I need to try out the world famous shaadi.com (not bad again…)

Hours and hours of endless fun…will explain later…
